MEDIA TAKE NOTICE

The tragic events of December 14, 2012 will forever be burned in our minds.  The taking of 26 innocent lives can NEVER be justified, nor will it ever be understood.  What also will NEVER be understood is how the media GLORIFIES this “person” (and I use that term loosely).  In case you haven’t noticed all of you in charge of putting this “news” on TV…with each event you glorify the violent offender, trying to ingrain their names into our minds forever.  By doing so, you just give others who are similarly disturbed the idea to do something in a similar manner…would you like to see a list?  Here it is, and I am INTENTIONALLY NOT using their names.  They do not deserve it..
12/14/12 Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown, CT-  26 people
08/05/12- Sikh Temple, Oak Creek, Wisconsin – 6 people
07/12/12 – Century Movie Theater, Aurora, Colorado- 12 people
01/08/11- Safeway Grocery, Tuscon, AZ - - people
11/09 – Army Base, Ft. Hood Texas, 12 people
04/07 – Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA – 32 people
04/20/99- COLUMBINE High School, Bloomington, MN
The above are just a few of these mindless massacres.  What keeps these sad, depressed, depraved, lonely individuals from just offing  themselves in the privacy of their own home???  I think we all KNOW that answer and it is to be go down in HISTORY, to become famous, to make people remember who they are.  My statement may be a little harsh, yet it is also accurate.  The thing these ALL have in common is that they all wanted to be REMEMBERED for their cruelty, heartlessness, and violence.
Look at the list above…in case you didn’t notice, the frequency of these mass kilings increased over time.  The new media...ALL of them print, online and television GLORIFY and focus their energy on the OFFENDER.  How about focusing on the victims???  Those who lost their lives because of these nut-jobbers (I know not politically correct...but right now, I don’t care).  Let’s show how they LIVED.  Show their families.  Show who they were. I personally don’t give a damn about who did the killings…it does NOT matter….once the innocent have been taken…there is no way to get them back.
The thing that these also have in common is that most of the offenders took their own lives AFTER taking the lives of the innocent...so ultimately it truly does not matter who these people were.  The deed was done and focusing on them only give ideas and inspiration to future killers thinking, if they do it bigger, more people, and better then they will get more air time, be remembered longer, and go down in history.
Please, let’s take away that power.  Take away the ideas.  Take away the hope for these future offenders...let them know that they will NOT be made infamous by television, magazines, social media, and radio. Let them stew in the venom of their own lives and hopefully, just hopefully, even just one of them will realize it is NOT worth it...and they will just take their own life instead of ruining HUNDREDS of others. Again, my statement may be harsh, but a LOT of us think it.  I am just saying it out loud.
All of you news agencies…you contribute to the delinquency of these people.  I HOPE that you know and understand this.  How about you focus on the GOOD people, instead of the bad?  How about you focus on the charity of others ALL year, not just at holiday time?  How about you put more POSITIVE vibes out there?  How about realizing your IMPACT on society…by perpetuating the venomous acts of others you inspire MORE venomous acts.  Try the opposite…show love, compassion, optimism, and care...and maybe you MEDIA outlets can perpetuate the positive vibes, spreading happiness and care for your fellow man rather than the demise of it.  How about you ALL try it for at least a week???  How about we all try paying it forward…open a door, smile at a stranger, say Hello, help someone in the store, give some time to your local animal or homeless shelter??
Let’s all take this challenge…see how you feel after a week.  I know for a fact that you will be happier…let's treat others with the respect, care, and honor that we all feel  that we deserve
